Glen Ellyn Lakers FC

This is the official site for the Glen Ellyn Lakers Travel Soccer Organization (GETSO) also commonly referred to as the Glen Ellyn Lakers Football Club. The Lakers are a competitive travel soccer club run by the Glen Ellyn Park District.

We are the largest soccer organization in Glen Ellyn and provide competitive teams for ages ranging from U8 through U17. We offer both girls and co-rec teams. The co-rec teams compete in the Northern Illinois Soccer League (NISL) and the girl teams compete in the Illinois Women's Soccer League (IWSL).

In the closing seconds of the Championship Match, Ian Winans beat his man in the box and slid a pass to Cody Dilworth, who roofed it to give the Glen Ellyn Lakers a 2-1 victory over Bavaria SC from Milwaukee, WI in the U17 Cup Division of the Nike Classic Cup in Schaumburg on April 28.   The boys, who currently play in the Premier League of the NISL, went undefeated in the tournament.   They came back from a 1-0 deficit in the Championship Match to win in the final seconds.   Before halftime, Christian Romero drew a penalty kick and converted it to tie the game.   The second half had chances for both teams, but one of the most memorable moments was when an attacking  Bavarian player sprung free on a breakaway and came barreling down on Lakers goalkeeper Robbie White.  Robbie raced of his line to challenge the attacker and dove to pluck the ball from the forward’s feet.

The Lakers went undefeated in the tourney, beating  St. Louis Scott Gallagher Red, Sockers FC Wisconsin, and Freeport Force.
